That’s Saul Folks! Michael Steele Named RNC Chair

January 30th, 2009 by David All

In case you missed it, here’s a video of Saul’s concession speech:

What a class act. We’re proud of you Saul.

Saul ran a great campaign and doubtless helped make technology a top concern and issue for the renewal of the Republican Party. Saul’s days with the Republican Party are far from over and I’m hopeful he’ll continue to be a true evangelist for the importance of technology. He gets what few others do and is in a position to continue his efforts.

Regarding the campaign, I was proud to be a part of it — to work with an incredible team of consultants, grassroots activists, online political operatives, and volunteers. We fought hard, played fair, and ran an honest campaign. Thanks to all of those folks who participated in this effort.

So congratulations to Michael Steele, the new Chairman of the Republican Party. They ran an aggressive campaign and ended up being able to build the coalition they needed to win victory. (If you missed the speech, Mary Katharine Ham has the transcript of Michael Steele’s victory speech here.)

While the contributors of this blog had hoped and worked for Saul Anuzis, we’re proud of our efforts and to see our party choose a new chairman to lead the renewal of the Republican Party. As we wrote in our first post:

At the end of the day, the contributors of this space will agree that we’re all going to back our next chairman, regardless of who it turns out to be. After all, we’re all Republicans and want nothing more than to see our party succeed.

Michael Steele knows and understands the challenges are party faces moving forward. We stand ready to help and support his efforts. Today is the beginning of a new day for our party.

    Hello Everyone,

I have been following the process via Twitter and the tweets have been very enlightening.

I applaud those that covered the RNC Election Process. Very Open process and it was very interesting.

I understand better now the need for complete MultiMedia Communications and the understanding of the Public Relations / Communications People much better now. I hope that Saul has as good if not better an understanding.

I think we may be headed in a better direction now.

I only ask that the Communications and Public Relations People not be lumped with the Information Technology People. The IT People can make the equipment work and software work, but they do not know ANY THING about Proper Communications or Public Relations.

Additionally, Please ensure that who ever we have in Communications and Public Relations has Sucessfully Conducted Campaigns to use a closed loop system and allow for two way communications.

The American People hunger for the ability to speak directly to you and get responses back from you. They no longer tolerate being talked at or down to.

    Good Luck,

    Cary

We now find ourselves at the bottom of a huge mountain looking up. Let’s make sure we have the proper equipment before we start the climb. And it’s not really equipment in a literal sense. We have lost our center.

http://www.reaganlegacy.wordpress.com is a constantly updated site from the standard bearer of the GOP, although we seem to have forgotten that. From trillion dollar budgets and deficit spending, to avoiding difficult issues for the sake of expediency. GOP leaders have presided over a dismal failure. The last thing we need is more of the same. In the words of our standard bearer, “Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.” GOP leaders would do well to heed that.

Technology without core principles, steadfastly held by courageous leaders equals more victories for our ideological opponenents.
