Obama tries to “sell” his Budget

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

A great article in the Washington Post discusses the impressive grassroots effort the Democrats are organizing to get YOUR money!

More than 1,200 groups from Maine to Hawaii spent the day gathering signatures in support of Obama’s economic plan, the first step in building what the White House hopes will be a standing political army ready to do battle.

I hope the American taxpayer wakes up and starts paying attention.  The Tax Day Tea Parties nationwide are a start.

As our boy scout motto says BE PREPARED!

Those are encouraging numbers and makes me feel better!

Gov. Mark Sanford says “NO” to more debt

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

sanford-mark

In an op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford discusses why his state is going to turn down the stimulus funds.

In the end, I just don’t believe a problem created by too much debt will be solved by piling on more debt. This doesn’t strike me as an unreasonable or extremist position.

He makes some great arguments and furthers and important debate.  I would encourage you to read this WSJ op-ed piece.

MI Tax Day Tea Party

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Join citizens across the county on April 15th to let our representatives in government know…enough is enough.

We are spending more, taxing more and borrowing more than we should.  Obama and the Democrats are going to put our children and grandchildren into debt beyond our means.  It will have a negative effect on our country and economy  for years to come.

Here is the link for those interested in joining us at the State Capitol in Lansing on April 15th…join us!

Cap and Trade is a Bad Idea

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

In a Detroit News Editorial they point out that ever liberal Senator Carl Levin understands the significant impact a politically motivated Cap and Trade bill would have on our country.  This is bad public policy and just another attempt to increase the size and scope of governement.

Legislation as controversial as cap-and-trade should receive a lengthy public airing, not be slipped inside a larger bill and rushed through as if it were just another piece of congressional pork.

This is an issue that will have a huge impact on all of us…pay attention!

House Republicans Offer President Obama Alternatives

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

“Republicans are eager to offer better solutions on the budget as well. Mr. President, with all due respect: your budget spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much, and that’s going to do further harm to our economy at a time when it desperately needs our help.”

House Republican Leader John Boehner

The Chicago Tribune has a good article posted and the House Republicans video response to President Obama, as the Democrats try and make the point that the Republicans are NOT offering constructive alternatives.  They’re offering…the Democrats are just NOT listening!

Transition Teams finishing up their work, presenting 100-day plans to the Chairman.  Leadership staff being put in place.

Now the real work begins…rebuilding out party…and strong Congressional leadership and Governors will be a huge help!

Steele on GQ “pro-life controversy”

Saturday, March 14th, 2009
RNC CHAIRMAN STATEMENT ON PRO-LIFE POSITION

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today:

“I am pro-life, always have been, always will be. I tried to present why I am pro life while recognizing that my mother had a ‘choice’ before deciding to put me up for adoption. I thank her every day for supporting life. The strength of the pro life movement lies in choosing life and sharing the wisdom of that choice with those who face difficult circumstances. They did that for my mother and I am here today because they did. In my view Roe vs. Wade was wrongly decided and should be repealed. I realize that there are good people in our party who disagree with me on this issue. But the Republican Party is and will continue to be the party of life. I support our platform and its call for a Human Life Amendment. It is important that we stand up for the defenseless and that we continue to work to change the hearts and minds of our fellow countrymen so that we can welcome all children and protect them under the law.”

Democrat’s Hypocrisy – Budget Deficits Growing!

Friday, March 13th, 2009

In an enlightening article in the Wall Street Journal, Kimberley Strassel pens The Deficit-Hawk Blues.  It’s down-right scary and the hypocrisy of the Democrats is all but too obvious.  The question is when will voters sit up and take notice?

If they gave out Olympic medals for fiscal irresponsibility, President Bush
would take the gold, silver and bronze.
– North Dakota Sen. Kent Conrad, July 2008, commenting on a projected 2009
deficit of $482 billion.

I would describe it as a good beginning.
– Sen. Conrad, February 2009, commenting on President Barack Obama’s 2010
budget.Projected deficit: $1.75 trillion.

…now we have a new president, with a new budget, and plenty of tax
hikes. Even after the administration rips away the Bush tax cuts for the
“wealthy” and limits their deductions, and levies a monstrous middle-class
tax on carbon, and hammers the investor class with higher taxes on capital,
and squeezes money out of dead people, it still can’t get anywhere near
filling its budget hole.

2006: the deficit was, oh, 2.8% of GDP

2010: deficit estimated at, oh, 12.3% of GDP

Is America listening…paying attention???  Is this the gift of “change” that just keeps on giving?  Have you hugged you children and/or grandchildren today and said “I’m sorry”?!?

This is an important article worth reading...the hypocrisy of Democrats and President Obama are as boundless as his deficit spending!
