37 Days Left Until the General Election!!!

Democrats can run, but they can’t hide.

They bailed out Wall Street and helped their friends with BILLIONS in subsidies while Main Street taxpayers pay the bills…probably for generations.

They passed special interest legislation and unfunded mandates while Main Street taxpayers get stuck with the bill.

Democrats have continued to borrow and try to buy favor with voters while average Main Street taxpayers pay the bill.

Obama and his Democratic Allies extol the virtue of class warfare while attacking “job providers” who can and do move anywhere in the world while Main Street taxpayers pay the bill…if they have a job.

The “left’s” spins machine attacks average Americans, frustrated with both parties as being “extreme”…they belittle Tea Party activists standing up for taxpayers who are only trying to stop the outrageous spending and out of control borrowing.

The Democrats and their donors have an agenda that believes in “crony capitalism”- helping “their friends” instead of allowing EVERYONE to work and compete while Main Street taxpayers pay the bill.

America has listened, watched and learned what Obama and the Democrats mean…higher spending, more debt, larger deficits, unfunded mandates, less freedom, greater insecurity and ‘crony capitalism’ – and we DON’T like it!

The ONLY pledge the Democrats are willing to make is “trust us” and we already did that once…and have the highest unemployment in recent history, not to mention unsustainable spending and debt.

Republican ‘Pledge to America’:

Spending caps, tax cuts

“House Republicans are set to release on Thursday a “Pledge to America,” an ambitious and sweeping set of proposed changes to domestic and security policy, including promises to freeze most federal government hiring, cut Congress’ budget, place hard caps on domestic spending accounts, prevent the phase-out of tax cuts that are set to expire in 2011 and “repeal and replace” the new health care law.”

“The parents of a man who was murdered in Flint in 2006 said today they were tricked into accepting a plea deal Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton never honored.”

“We were lied to, tricked and conned,” said Dan McIntosh of Grand Blanc, whose 25-year-old son Adam was shot to death by gang members.”

Speaker Education Project (SEP) – Who will be the next Speaker of the U.S. House?

Did you know that the Speaker of the U.S. House is NOT required to be a member of Congress?  The SEP (www.speakereducationproject.com) is now active in 40 targeted congressional districts around the U.S. – including two Michigan districts, educating voters on that fact as well as the impact that our votes for Congress will have on who is elected to the third most powerful position in our government – Speaker of the U.S. House.

Over the next month, the SEP will be asking candidates Dan Benishek (R) & Gary McDowell (D) in the 1st district, and Mark Schauer (D) and Tim Walberg (R) in the 7th, to declare their preference for Speaker if elected in November.   To learn more or to get involved, visit the SEP website or contact Rob Macomber at rob.macomber@gmail.com.

Goodbye to the Clinton Majority, Those Lucky Dems, and More!

“the West and the Midwest doing what they have long done, swinging one way or the other.  They swung heavily to the Democrats in 2008, now they are set to swing heavily to the GOP in 2010…The second will acknowledge this phenomenon that Trende discovered nearly a year ago.  Those upscale, socially moderate, fiscally conservative suburban voters in the wealthier cities are fleeing the Democratic coalition.”

GOP’s New Senate Class Could Be Conservative Vanguard

“Unless Democrats can recover lost ground, it appears likely that the 2010 elections will produce the biggest crop of freshman Republican senators since the 11 who arrived in 1994, and possibly even the 16 who were part of Ronald Reagan’s landslide in 1980. Across a wide range of issues, the potential GOP Senate class of 2010 leans right even when compared with those earlier groups — some contenders hold positions on the far frontier of modern American politics. Next year could bring to Washington the most consistently, and even militantly, conservative class of new senators in at least the past half-century.”

The Organizational Secret of the Tea Parties

“American politics has never seen anything quite like the Tea Parties, though few appreciate the revolutionary organizational principle powering the movement. A major reason why the Tea Parties have been so successful, why the political establishment has found them so difficult to combat (and one that explains, among other things, why I’ve chosen to use the plural in referring to them), lies in their organization.

The Tea Parties comprise a distributed network — a non-hierarchical system of autonomous nodes with no central control point, and with all nodes possessing the same value and freedom to act independently.”

44 Days Left Until the General Election!!!

‘Don’t ask! It’s hell. I can’t stand it!’

Michelle Obame to France’s First Lady Bruni when asked about her position as the U.S. president’s wife.

David Leyton: The Democrat for Attorney General

When you’re the Prosecutor in one of the most violent, crime ridden city in the nation – a city on track for a record setting number of murders this year – you deserve a pink slip, not a promotion!?!

The play that made “Mid Night Magic” a reality!

MSU vs Notre Dame overtime “trick” play that couldn’t have gone any better…what a night in East Lansing!

Why Voters Don’t Trust Either Political Party

I love how the liberal media spins the various primary races around the country.  It used to be Republicans were basically conservatives and Democrats were basically liberal…and we fought over which policies made the most sense at a given point and time in our history.

Delaware is a mixed bag…sure – it would be nice to have an “easier” victory, but at what cost?  If a Republican supports “cap & trade” which is the largest tax increase in America’s history and when candidates back policies that resemble a Democrat more than a Republican…one should understand the electorates confusion and disgust.

Republican had lost their way and the American people wanted to throw the bums out…and in the 2006 and 2008 we had become the bums!  We are now EARNING our way back, but our ACTIONS must match our RHETORIC.

I recall one of the early politicians who inspired me to get involved, Cong. Phil Crane who said: “I’d rather stand on my principles and lose, than lose my principles and win.”  Maybe a bit “simplistic” for the times, but it worked on me!

It Aint Over Until It’s Over

The polling numbers are looking great.  Optimism amongst Republicans is at an all-time high.  And activists/politicos around the country are “almost” too giddy for our own good.

The races around the country will tighten.  In Michigan, you can count of liberal special interest groups doing all they can to turn our “their constituencies” and launch vicious, deceptive ads against our candidates.  They did it before…and got away with it…we should expect more of the same.

WE must act and work as if we’re 5% points behind!  Every phone call matters, every neighbor you talk to helps, every article and talking point you share helps build the narrative and every dollar you give your favorite candidate, party and/or organization can help make the difference.

This has been a busy week as EVERY campaign has shifted into over-drive.  AV voters will start sending in their ballots soon.  GOTV programs are under-way.  Door–to-door is in full swing and our Fix Michigan Victory Centers are humming with activity every day!

Join us…do whatever you can.  Every hour & dollar helps.  TAXPAYERS deserve a voice as well.

A lot can and will change by election day.  Join us in the fight of our lives to help turn Michigan and our country around!

Bernero’s “Debate Game” – Hypocrisy

I went on Michigan Talk Radio’s “The Big Show” with Michael Patrick Shiels to call out Bernero for playing nothing more than politics.  Bernero claims he’ll debate any-time, any-where EXCEPT, apparently, the THREE statewide, televised debates Snyder offered to have?  Hypocrisy and more politics as usual.

This helps define the fundamental difference between Snyder – an outsider/non-politician and Bernero – a politics as usual politician.

Rick Snyder releases local strategist John Yob

“GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder insists this isn’t a sign he’s taking his 20-plus-point lead for granted, but he has released a top strategist to work on other campaigns. John Yob, who operates Grand Rapids-based Strategic National, says he will focus on the campaign of another client(s) — Sharron Angle…Christine O’Donnell.”

Cong. Paul Ryan: Getting the Fundamental Right!

Provocative and Good: Do the (Thirty-Year) Math: The Consultants Are Wrong

“There have been three great elections for Republicans in modern history — ‘80, ‘84 and ‘94 — and all three were the result of a wave of conservatism. There have been five awful elections – ‘92, ‘96, ‘98, ‘06 and ‘08 — and all the result of purposeful moderation.

The rest have fallen somewhere in between, with Republican success mainly the result of the Democrats doing us a favor by swerving way left. The three-decade trend is clear.”

http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/09/do_the_30_year_math_the_consul.html

What Went Wrong – A ‘pre-mortem’ for the Democrats.  Obama “misread” his mandate.

“Obama misread his mandate. Obama’s 2008 victory was a personal one,” says Bill Galston, an adviser to President Clinton. “It wasn’t a vote for a more expansive view of the role and reach of government.” The stimulus, on its own, wasn’t the problem. It was the thousands of easy-to-caricature pages of new legislation that came on top of it, all of which revived the Republicans’ “big government” narrative.”

How – With Ronald Reagan Rowing, America Rode A Capital Wave

“But in the end, Reagan won. The Berlin Wall and Soviet Union crumbled soon after he left office. Today his critics look more than unlucky — they look silly. His presidency was a success. He left the country better off than it was before he came.”

George Will: Americans have good reason not to believe in Obamanomics

“Looking back with pride, the British are commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, when Churchill said of the pilots fighting the Luftwaffe: Never “was so much owed by so many to so few.” Looking ahead with trepidation, Americans are thinking: Never have so many of us owed so much.”

Lesson for America?

Why are the British so excited about spending cuts and austerity measures?

“Not only is austerity being touted as the solution to Britain’s economic woes; it is also being described as the answer to the country’s moral failings…Nostalgic Brits, longing to re-create their country’s finest hour, remember postwar scrimping and saving. Nostalgic Americans in search of their own country’s finest hour remember postwar abundance, the long consumer boom—and, yes, a time when even instant gratification wasn’t fast enough.”

POLITICO: Tea party gains clout for 2012

“No GOP presidential hopeful in 2012 can expect to pass go without bowing to the tea party activists and other aggrieved conservatives who in this year’s primary season repeatedly showed their ability to reward Republicans they like and severely punish those they don’t. The opening phase of the Republican nominating contest is likely mainly to be a sprint by candidates to prove who can be the most zealously supportive of the tea party’s ideological goals and preference for ostentatiously combative candidates.”

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0910/42258.html

2012: Will the Republican Delegate Rules Changes Prolong their Primary Season?

“The change in the rules to mandate proportional allocation of delegates may end up having a significant impact on the eventual selection of the Republican Presidential nominee…By tinkering with their delegate selection system, the Republicans seem to have assured a long 2012 primary season that gives passionate fringe minorities a lot more influence over the selection of the eventual nominee.”

51 Days Left Until the General Election!!!

9/11 Remembered

House Republican Leader John Boehner said it well: “Each year on this day we have the solemn responsibility to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks, keep faith with their loved ones, & remember the heroes: police, firefighters, & first responders who ran into burning buildings so others could get out; passengers of Flight 93 who dug in rather than give up; Americans who donated blood, gathered at candlelight vigils, & aided relief workers; & our troops who volunteered to take the fight to the enemy & keep the light of freedom burning bright. Through our thoughts & prayers, we can heal, & we can steel ourselves to repeat the words ‘never again’.”

Michigan Republican State Committee Mtg

Saturday we had an interesting meeting where we did a critical analysis of the last state convention and put together a long list of items to work on and recommend for future conventions.  Chairman Weiser created an “Events Committee” that will pick the next venue and review all the recommendations.

The Political staff made an extensive presentation on the plans for this falls “ground game” statewide.  We discussed GOTV, EDO and answered numerous specific questions on multiple political areas of interest.

Michigan Republicans are once again poised to break every record in support of our candidates statewide: voter id, phone calls, door knocking, EDO, fundraising and candidate support!

Michigan Republicans are ready & motivated… realizing we have lots to do and that this election will “close” and  it’s far from over.

We need EVERYONE to do their part…whatever you can, every call, every sign, every dollar helps make a difference.

Discussions about who might run for State Chairman were abound…the most often mentioned names were Norm Shinkle, Terri Land, Bobby Schostak & Scott Greenlee…so far.

House Dems Pushed To The Tipping Point

It’s Now Likely That The GOP Will Reclaim The House, And The Gains Could Be Big

“In recent weeks, though, the district-by-district deterioration has reached the tipping point. It can now be said that Republicans will likely take back the House. An individual race analysis points to GOP gains of over 40 seats in the House, but the national polling suggests gains substantially higher than that.”

Democratic Dunkirk?  Democrats try to escape Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.

“We are now seeing the beginning of the political equivalent of the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940. This time, it’s not British troops escaping Nazi German forces.  It’s Democrats evacuating Obamaland, desperate to avoid identification with President Obama with their re-election (or election) on November 2 in doubt.”

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/democratic-dunkirk

America’s Best Days 68% Favor Smaller Government, Lower Taxes

“Sixty-eight percent (68%) of U.S. voters prefer a smaller government with fewer services and lower taxes to a more active one that offers more services and higher taxes. That’s the second highest finding in Rasmussen Reports surveying on the question since November 2006, exceeded only by a 70% finding in August of last year.”

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/america_s_best_days

America’s public servants are now its masters

“These days, government employees are better off in almost every area: pay, benefits, time off and security, on top of working fewer hours. Public workers have become a privileged class – an elite who live better than their private-sector counterparts. Public servants have become the public’s masters.”

Bernero, Benson and Leyton? Only if we let them…

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

http://www.rightmichigan.com/story/2010/9/7/8483/14945

This is a big election year.

Only eight weeks from today here in Michigan we will head to the polls and elect a new Governor and Lieutenant Governor, a new Secretary of State, a new Attorney General, an entirely new state House and Senate, members of the Michigan Supreme Court, members of boards of education and boards of regent and local office holders across the state.

Everything is on the table and up for grabs and the differences couldn’t be bigger between Republicans and Democrats.

We’ve got a choice for governor between Rick Snyder and America’s angriest mayor, Virg Bernero, a man whose platform seems to consist of three plank–shout louder than anyone else, do everything under the sun to empower Big Labor and set up a state-run bank (because state government seems to run everything else so well).

We’ve got a choice for Secretary of State between Ruth Johnson and Jocelyn Benson, a near carbon copy of Jennifer Granholm.  The only difference real between Benson and Granholm is that Benson is significantly more liberal.

And then there’s the choice for Attorney General between Bill Schuette and David Leyton, a county prosecutor in Flint where violent crime has skyrocketed on his watch.  David Leyton seemingly never saw a violent crime case he wouldn’t plea bargain. Sure, maybe you plea bargain some first offenses to keep the courts from clogging up. But when you’re the Prosecutor in the most violent city in the state — a city on track for a record setting number of murders this year — business as usual is not good enough.

Leyton has been such a failure that this past year community leaders in Flint have called for the National Guard to be deployed to curb the continuing violence.

Three choices.  Each of them no choice at all.

And with the Governor, the Senate and the Supreme Court handling redistricting that will go a long ways to determining control of the legislature for the next decade, the stakes this year couldn’t be any greater.

But you know all of that.  The question for each of is is what are we going to do about it?

It’s going to take our combined effort again this year to make sure Michigan turns the corner away from the Democrats’ record shattering tax hikes, nation’s worst unemployment rates and big-government liberalism.

Pick a race.  Blog about it.  I’ll pledge here and now to do that myself.  You can expect to see me here every single week between now and the election talking about the critical races facing each of us.  I hope you’ll join me.

And then call one of the campaigns and get involved.

Let’s show the Democrats– who’ve given us more dangerous streets, higher unemployment, higher taxes and bigger government– that enough is enough.

“Frankly, given the Democratic Party’s record on crime the past eight years – closing more than one dozen prisons, releasing thousands of dangerous criminals, and presiding over the layoffs of more than 2,300 law enforcement officers — I’d run from that record, too. It’s a prescription for putting public safety at risk,” Anuzis said.

The MOST Important Thing We Can Do – Share

The American people are waking up.  They are seeing through the hype, spin, ‘hope’ and mantra of ‘change’ that is dragging our country down.  When you find an article or analysis that articulates our positions well or points out the dangers and failures of the Democrats and the Obama Adminstration – SHARE!

Send the link, highlight or quote in an email.  Post it on your Facebook or Twitter account.  Use it/Share it in a blog in response to something else.

Getting information and sharing it from a trusted source, a friend, is much more powerful than hoping your friends & family catch it on the news.

NEVER assume others have seen anything…as activists – we have an opportunity and responsibility to SHARE…it’s easy…it’s cheap…it makes a difference!

“Typically cautious Larry Sabato, head of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, is rocking the political world with a new “Crystal Ball” prediction: The GOP will win the House, making Ohio’s John Boehner speaker, might get a 50-50 split in the Senate, and will pick up some eight new governors.”

GOP faction worked to oust MSU trustee

First, Mitch Lyons and Don Nugent are fine men and will/have served MSU well.  This is about the process.

Here is an interesting article about some of the other aspects of a convention I don’t like.  I think the misleading, negative and downright dirty campaign tactics used by some should NOT be rewarded.

I am going to propose a rule that in the future, all nominating and seconding speeches be in favor of their own candidates, to eliminate the ability for a “drive by shooting” scenario where those attacked can’t respond.  It’s just irresponsible.

This week I participated at the Brighton Tea Party and had an opportunity to speak against calling for a Constitutional Convention in Michigan.  I think the risks and danger of having far left/radical groups hijacking the process is just too great!

No Help On The Horizon For Dems –

The Midterm Outlook Remains Grisly

“The race-by-race outlook confirms the dire forecasts. Cook Political Report House Editor David Wasserman points out that at this point, 32 Democratic incumbents are running even or behind their Republican challengers in one or more public or private polls. At this point in 2006, when Republicans lost control of Congress, only 11 GOP incumbents were running even or behind…

In the Senate, while the odds still favor Democrats holding on to a narrow majority, it is not only mathematically possible for the GOP to capture a majority this year, but it has become plausible.”

Democrat’s Scare Tactics: Can Social Security save Democrats this fall?

Republicans dismiss the Democratic strategy as an age-old attempt to change the subject. “This is a transparent attempt to distract from their budget busting, job-killing policies that have left voters asking the simple question that Democrats still can’t answer: ‘Where are the jobs,’” said National Republican Congressional Committee communications director Ken Spain.

Remember that the only way that Democrats believe they can keep their losses at or below historic levels is to make the midterm elections a choice between the two parties rather than a referendum on a Democratic-controlled Washington.
